When will I
see my savings on my bill once I switch over to Viridian Energy?
Great question. I have been asked this
question so many times. Including just recently in the comment section. So here's the official
answer:
Once the customer switches over to
Viridian Energy or any 3rd party supplier the change is not instant no matter “who” the supplier is.
We all operate under the same set of guidelines and it all depends on the market they are in and their meter
read date. Each state has a different time-line in which the utilities have to comply. This time-line applies to
both residential enrollments and large commercial. Accordingly days to comply with the “switch” for some states
are: CT-9 days; MA-8 days; NY-10 days; PA-16 days; NJ-26 days; and MD-15 days.
As an example, if you are in PA and you
enroll a client on September 12th and they have a meter read date of the 20th of
the month the “switch” will not be effective until October 21st. Yes it will be
accepted by the utility before then but they cannot change providers in the middle of a meter read so they
have to wait until the next read date. The client will then receive their first bill
reflecting the change after the November 20th meter read so at the end of the day it will take
roughly 70 days before they can “see” the change/savings on their bill. This first bill
will be for the period from October 20th to November 20th and then it will be reflected
each month thereafter.
